Meet Travel Jack founder Michael McDavid
With more than a decade in the Western retail world, Michael built his career on a simple code: take care of people, honor the lifestyle, and work hard for what matters. From managing the sales floor of a Nashville Western store to leading an entire fleet of retail locations years later, he learned firsthand what real boot-wearing customers value — authenticity, durability, and integrity. The idea for Travel Jack was born the hard way. After a long day and four-mile walk through a 6,500-ft-elevation mountain town — courtesy of the pandemic and some wildly inaccurate Google listings — Michael ended up at the airport with swollen feet and wearing a pair of barely broken-in boots. Since no one is inclined to travel with the standard giant wooden boot jack - he found himself literally stuck in his boots until a kind TSA agent helped wrestle them off in a 10 minute white knuckle gripping gymnastics battle. Now red faced, sweating, and feeling like a feature of the evening news, he thought: “There has to be a travel-sized boot jack."
There wasn’t, So he got to work.
5 years in the making and what feels like 100 designs and prototypes later - Travel Jack was born: a compact, collapsible, travel-ready boot jack built for people who live in their boots and love the journey. Rooted in Western grit, shaped by real-world experience, and driven by a founder who loves and knows the lifestyle — this is the story of Travel Jack.
And it’s just getting started.
